Summary: I See Summer
In this Storybook review, I See Summer by Charles Ghigna, highlights some of the most exciting aspects of the Summer Season through the eyes of young children.
The Good Stuff
Do you recall what Summer was like when you were a child? If not, I See Summer will definitely refresh your memory. From spending time with family outside, eating ice cream, going to a picnic, and playing on the playgrounds, these activities bring a smile to my face. As you navigate through other elements of this book, you will discover that this book is very easy to read. Each sentence starts with the phrase “I see” then, after the anaphora on each page, the author explains what the child sees. Hence the title, I See Summer. Depending on your child’s reading level, this writing style is best suited for much younger kids between the ages of 3 and 6.
I love the beautiful, bright colors throughout this book. The illustrator successfully depicts the true essence of Summer with deep blue lakes, fresh squeezed yellow lemonade, colorful sailboats, and even more stunning scenery throughout this book. I must emphasize that there are several different shades of children. In a world full of diverse people, this is important. Children can connect more when they see themselves inside of a book.Â
