Summary: At The Beach

This Storybook review, At The Beach, features a young boy who visits the beach with a loved one on a gorgeous sunny day and quickly learns about the different experiences you have when playing with some fun beach toys near the ocean.

The Good Stuff

At The Beach is a simple, enjoyable, storybook that taps into the emotions of a toddler as they explore life’s ups and downs. In the first half of this book, the author introduces sight words. Then, towards the middle of the book, she adds a few short sentences. Next, the author goes back into just sight words to end the story. Therefore, this makes it an excellent first choice for someone who is just learning to read. Not only is this book easy to read, you can also feel the love as the boy makes a special surprise for his loved one.

The illustrations are cute, memorable, and well designed. I absolutely adore the hand drawn textures. You can clearly see where the light shining on the boy’s face during each scene. One of my favorite scenes is when the boy is resting on his mom with his eyes closed, gently falling asleep. The attention to detail during this scene shows the true skill of this artist. The rosy cheeks, wide face, and the little round chin is now front and center. Every detail was thought of when this book was designed.

Conclusion: At The Beach

With sunny skies, blue waters, and lots of sand, this storybook was made for me, my children, and others who are in need of a true vacation. Moreover, At The Beach captures the beauty of the sand nestling between your toes and the warm weather that you experience while at the beach. Nevertheless, the author shows that family is always there to comfort you in that time of need. With the use of sight words and short sentences, this storybook should be in the hands of many toddlers just starting to read. Please pick up your copy today!
